Our Wedding Blog
Links to the Chinese Culture | |
| I (Joyce, the bride, because Tommy, the groom, is too busy playing Patapon) have added links to the site (in the LINKS section) that will hopefully enlighten you on many of the seemingly odd Chinese traditions that Tommy and I are attempting to keep with our upcoming wedding celebrations. As we get further along in the preparations, the many things our parents bring up that we must adhere to become less of an inconvenience and more of a duty and privilege. The traditions discussed in those links are things that Tommy and I will not likely impart on our own future children, especially since we don't know half of them (traditions, not children... though, we don't know the children yet, either). Because of this (rather depressing) fact, we are honored to celebrate and plan our own wedding under our parents' guidance and through the many ways (foreign, even to us) that are dearest to them. Through these upcoming nuptials, Tommy and I have attempted to pour out our utmost love and respect for our parents. (Not that it's been a smooth ride. There have been quite a few exasperated sighs and near arguments.) But it is undeniably the least we can do to thank them for their sacrifices and their amazingly hard work in bringing us up in this country (so far from their roots) and in this world at large. | |
