Nick & Erin

Our Story

How We Met

Nick and Erin met at Echostar (Dish Network) in late 2002. Nick was going to school full time and working 2nd shift and Erin had just dropped out of college and was living with a party girl. When Erin first met Nick she thought he was popular preppy guy (if know anything about Erin that was not a compliment). Nick though Erin was a weird gothic chick (if know anything about Nick that was not necessarily a compliment either). They were on the same team so they said 'hi' in passing and occasionally sat at the same table for lunch.
A few weeks later, Nick got to work late and had to take the last cube in the row which was next to Erin. Nick was fascinated by Erin pulling the foil off gum wrappers and sticking the pieces to her notebook. They started talking and then kept talking and pretty soon they were always sitting together. It turned out they had a lot in common; they were both artists, and comic book nerds.
They lived near each other and another coworker soon all 3 were constantly hanging out. Nick and Erin became very close friends. Jenn, the third, started working to get Nick and Erin together.
Nick, Jenn and Erin went to a party together on 6/14/03. During the night, Nick and Erin snuck off back to the pool and Erin asked Nick out (Nick stands firm that if he knew Erin was available he would have asked first). Nick immediately said yes. Things developed very fast. Erin moved in with Nick and his roommate, Roger. When Roger moved they got their own place and in 2004 Erin got pregnant. Nick's brother somehow psychic-ly (or psychotic-ly) knew before Erin even did. Erin and Nick decided they did not want to get married while they were pregnant but after. We think we've waited long enough.

The Proposal

A little backstory:
Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE knew Nick was going to purpose. I got clued in that Nick was going to propose for Christmas so I told friend (who obviously knew about the proposal) who told Nick that I had suspicions about a proposal.

Ok, Nick had said about a week before Christmas that he has overspent our agreed budget for Christmas. And because of my suspicions that he was going to purpose I wasn't that upset. On Christmas morning I opened all my presents, a BUNCH of Disney DVDs (I don't collect Disney) and a food processor (nothing says Love You like a food processor). I was happy with my gifts but of course disappointed that I didn't get a ring. On our way to my parents house, Nick came up to me and said, "Actually I got you one more thing." I know I should have known but I had decided he was not going to propose. So I turned around, he pulled out the box, got on one knee and asked me to marry him. I told him yes right away and asked if he had talked to my parents and he already had. On the way to my parents house he explained he got me boring gifts, imitating what Tom Hanks did on Cast Away before giving me the ring. We got to my parents house and I did not even get to announce we were engaged before the whole family was asking to see the ring. Then every time we seen someone they asked about the proposal before I could say anything. Like I said, EVERYONE knew.
