Our Story
How We Met

We initially saw each other at a wedding in 2006. Umesh was interested.. me .. not so much..(lol!).. We didn't speak or even exchange names. It wasn't until I got an email a month later on a random website that we reconnected. He had no idea who I was as I had no picture or identifying information. He apparently liked what he read. We emailed back and forth and after seeing pictures, soon realized that we had seen each other at the wedding. We began talking on the phone and met in person and eventually he grew on me! (he's going to kill me for writing this!) .. and like they say, the rest is history.. we have been inseparable since then..
The Proposal

After dating for a year and a half, Umesh had come to know that I loved shopping and especially going to Buffalo to find deals. We had planned a shopping trip for 3 days to complete our Christmas shopping. His brother asked to come along.. I thought nothing of it.
We got to Buffalo and shopped until noon. His brother said that we had to pick up his friend from the airport as he was flying in from a business trip. We headed to the airport and his friend was nowhere to be found, apparently he had been taken into customs. His brother asked Umesh to go inside the airport to find his friend. I waited patiently in the car, looking at the clock and wondering when I could go back to my shopping.
Umesh's brother came and got me in a hurry stating the he too had been taken into customs. I was worried sick (knowing what a loudmouth Umesh could be) and knew he was in big trouble.
I went inside the airport with my knees buckling wondering what had happened. The security and airport staff told me he had been taken away for mouthing off (which didn't surprise me!) I kept asking to see him, but they wouldn't let me.
Finally, I was led into a backroom where he was seated in a chair. He said he had to ask me some questions. I prepared myself and tried to put on the most honest face I could. He pulled out the ring and proposed in front of all of the security taking pictures of us (and I thought the pictures were for his record!). I still didn't clue in. I thought he was making a joke of a serious situation.
He finally convinced me that it was real and told me that we were leaving on a flight to Paris in an hour. I was shocked! I said yes and we flew to Paris for a crazy yet romantic weekend.
How's that for a creative proposal ??!
