Hiya, yes still planning on it, but we haven't picked anyplace yet. We're going out to look at a few places at the end of April. Well, we only have an appointment to see one place which is a little outside Rome (Borgo di Tragliata) but we will hopefully see some other places too, it's just so difficult to pick! Where are you getting married?

Hi, I am Jenny. We are getting married, in July, at the commune "civil" wedding and then the reception is at a hotel in rome. I am American but my fiancee is Italian and we both live here in Rome.

I am curious...where are you from and why did you choose Rome? Have you lived here before or been here on holiday?

Bye.

Hi Jenny,
we are both Irish and neither of us have been to Rome, or even visited Italy before! We picked Italy for a few reasons - we like the idea of getting married in Rome (to us it sounds very romantic, maybe it isn't the same when you live there). Also my fiances parents got married in Rome so it would be nice to echo that, and last but not least we would like to get married somewhere with a better chance of sun than in Ireland where rain is pretty much guaranteed!

Nothing is set in stone yet though, first we must see what we think when we visit in April.

Whereabouts is your wedding reception hotel? We're trying to decide where to go see when we are over there, I'm sure a hotel picked by an Italian for his own wedding would be a good choice!

Wow! I can't believe you are planning a wedding in a place you have never even visited before!! Good for you! (It is hard enough being right here...there are just so many decisions to make, right?)

Really, Italy is a beautiful and romantic place, so you can't go wrong.

We are on a pretty strict budget...so many places we looked out were just not possible for us.

In the end, we happily chose a hotel right in the center of Rome. We like it because it has a nice indoor room for the dinner and a beautiful little courtyard for drinks, photos, and cake.

The hotel is called the Hotel Quirinale. But, honestly, if you look around on the internet, you will see lots and lots of wonderful choices. I would say there are two things that will help you select a few to see while you are here: (1) price range and (2) location. Think about if you want in rome or is outside in the countryside a possibility(about 30-45 minutes out of rome there are wonderful villas to rent.) We saw a beautiful place called Castello della Casteluccia. We loved it but it was out of our price range and we really wanted in rome center.

If you need any advice or help, I would be happy to do what I can. Our wedding is in early July. When are you thinking?

-Jenny

Hi,
Thank you so much, that's such a kind offer - you might be sorry yet! ;) I've only heard good things about weddings in Rome, and Italy in general, so I'm not too worried really.
Oooo your wedding is getting really close! Exciting! Will you be having many travel from America for it?
We're not planning on getting married until summer 2010, we have June 25th provisionally booked, but like I said before - nothing set in stone until we see the place.
I like the idea of getting married out in the country which is why we're going for Borgo di Tragliata. Money is an issue for us too and they have a lot of things included in the price like the church ceremony (on the grounds), the decor/flowers and the wedding cake, so that makes it quite appealing. Plus the owner is from England (I think) so there's no problem with a language barrier. I like the way the can accommodate the wedding party too, should they want to stay there. Have you ever heard anything about it? I get the feeling that they do a lot of weddings and conferences.

No, I have not heard of the Borgo di Tragliata, but I checked out their website and it looks nice! It is not too far from Rome, and yet at the same time, totally in the countryside. It does look like they are well prepared for big events like weddings.

I hope to hear more about your wedding plans as you make them.

We are getting pretty close to our date. we have most of the big things booked and ready, but there seem to be an endless number of details to think about and choose from! At times it is a bit overwhelming...but fun at the same time.

When you come for a visit, will you come just to Rome, or will you travel around Italy a little bit? What about the next summer, will you honeymoon in Italy?
