San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Miguel Tejada hit a go-ahead two-run single in the seventh inning, and the San Diego Padres held on for a 4-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds in the opener of a three-game series. Premier Bills Jersey. Tejada drove in three overall for the Padres, who kept pace with the NL West- leading Giants. San Francisco edged Colorado earlier Friday, and continues to lead San Diego by half a game. The Padres also took over the wild card lead from Atlanta, which lost to Washington on Friday. San Diego leads the Braves by one-half game in that race. Meanwhile, the Reds got no closer to clinching the NL Central. Their magic number remained three because they lost and the second-place Cardinals beat the Cubs in an afternoon contest. The Padres held a 2-1 lead after five innings, but the Reds rallied for two in the sixth. Scott Rolen opened the inning with a single off reliever Ryan Webb, and Jonny Gomes followed with a ball hit to first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, who went for the force out at second. But his throwing error allowed the runners to advance into scoring position for Ramon Hernandez, who singled to third to plate Rolen. Webb retired the next two batters before giving way to Joe Thatcher, who surrendered a run- scoring single to pinch-hitter Miguel Cairo that gave Cincinnati a 3-2 edge.
